Add a new promo rule to a store. Promo rules define the parameters for promotional discounts such as percentage off, fixed amount off, or free shipping. After creating a promo rule, you can create promo codes under it using the Add Promo Code endpoint.

    A unique identifier for the promo rule. If your e-commerce platform does not support promo rules, use the promo code id as the promo rule id. Restricted to UTF-8 characters with max length of 50 characters.
  • typestring
    Required
    The type of discount: 'fixed' for a fixed monetary amount off, or 'percentage' for a percentage discount. For free shipping promotions, use 'fixed' type with target 'shipping'.
  • titlestring
    The title that will show up in promotion campaign. Restricted to UTF-8 characters with max length of 100 bytes.
  • amountnumber
    Required
    The discount amount. For 'fixed' type, this is the monetary value (e.g., 10.00 for $10 off). For 'percentage' type, this must be a decimal between 0.0 and 1.0 (e.g., 0.15 for 15% off).
  • targetstring
    Required
    What the discount applies to: 'per_item' applies discount to each item, 'total' applies to the order total, 'shipping' applies to shipping costs (use with type 'fixed' for free shipping).
  • enabledboolean
    Whether the promo rule is currently enabled. Defaults to true if not specified.
  • ends_atstring
    The date and time when the promotion ends, in ISO 8601 format (e.g., '2024-12-31T23:59:59Z'). Must be after starts_at if both are specified.
  • store_idstring
    Required
    The unique identifier for the e-commerce store. Use MAILCHIMP_LIST_STORES to get available store IDs.
  • starts_atstring
    The date and time when the promotion becomes active, in ISO 8601 format (e.g., '2024-01-15T00:00:00Z').
  • descriptionstring
    Required
    The description of the promotion. Restricted to UTF-8 characters with max length of 255 characters.
  • created_at_foreignstring
    The date and time the promotion was created in your e-commerce platform, in ISO 8601 format.
  • updated_at_foreignstring
    The date and time the promotion was last updated in your e-commerce platform, in ISO 8601 format.
